It includes information on candidates, legislative requirements, key dates, procedures regarding nominations for office, election expenses, and qualification requirements for candidates. The onus is on those persons running for office to ensure they are qualified and that all forms being submitted are complete and accurate.

2015 Municipal By-Election Information

The Township of Uxbridge Clerk's Department is responsible for the coordination and management of municipal elections. As the seat of Ward 3 Council Member is currently empty, the Township of Uxbridge is holding a Municipal By-Election to fill this seat in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act. This Municipal By-Election will be held on Monday, November 23, 2015. The nomination period for this office commenced on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 and will close on Nomination Day, Friday, October 09, 2015 at 2:00pm.

The Term of Office for the Ward 3 Council Member is four (4) years, minus the time that has already passed since the beginning of the current Council term. The current Council term commenced December 1, 2014 and will end on November 30, 2018. Elected Members of Council take the oath of office prior to assuming their seats.

How to Vote


Like the Municipal Election in 2014, the 2015 Ward 3 Municipal By-Election will be conducted with Vote-in Mailing Kits.

On October 20th, 2015, Vote-in Mailing Kits will be sent out to everyone who was on the Voters' List as of that date. You should recieve your Vote-in Mailing Kit by October 26th. If you do not recieve a Kit in the mail, you can pick one up from the Clerk's Department at the Municipal Office starting on October 27th.

Ballots can be submitted through the mail until November 9th, 2015. Ballots sent through the mail after this date are not guaranteed to arrive before the deadline and may not be counted.

If you are voting after November 9th, ballots can be deposited at the Municipal Office at 51 Toronto Street South, Uxbridge. If you are visiting during a weekday between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, please bring your ballot to the Clerk's Department. If you are visiting before or after hours, your ballot can be deposited in the red mailbox located in the West parking lot in front of the Municipal Office.

 

The Voters' List

To vote in the upcoming Township of Uxbridge Ward 3 Municipal By-Election Ward 3 residents must be on the Voters' List. You can check whether you are on the Voters' List by visiting, calling, or emailing the Clerk's Department at the Municipal Office.

If you are a resident of Ward 3 but are not on the Voters' List, please visit the Township Office to complete the Application to Amend the Voters' List form (EL 15) in the presence of the Clerk of designate. Amendments can be made to the Voter’s List up until Monday, November 23rd, 2015 at 8pm.

Voter's List Day

The Voter's List is made available to candidates and electors, and amendments to the list can be made by filling out an application with the Clerk's Department.
 

Nomination Day

Friday October 9th


This is the last day for individuals to sign up to run for the position of Ward 3 Councillor in the By-Election, and the last day for candidates to withdraw from the By-Election. Papers must be filed IN PERSON with the Clerk before 2pm.

After this date, electors will not be apply to submit an Application to Remove an Elector's Name from the Voter's List.
 


Voting Kits Mailed Out

Vote-By-Mail kits will be sent to everyone on the Voter's List by this date.

If you should have recieved a Vote-By-Mail kit in the mail but did not, you can pick up a kit from the Township Office starting on this date.
 

Last Day to Vote by Mail

Monday November 9th

 

We recommend that if you want to submit your vote through the mail, you do so no later than November 9th. After this day, it is not guaranteed that votes submitted through the mail will arrive in time to be counted. If you are voting after November 9th, please drop your ballot off at the Township Office.
 
Extended Office Hours

Saturday November 14th
To accomodate voters, the Clerk's Department will be open 10am - 1pm. Please come in to vote, add yourself to the voter's list, or ask any questions you may have.

Wednesday November 18th
To accomodate voters, the Clerk's Department will be open 4:30pm - 7pm. Please come in to vote, add yourself to the voter's list, or ask any questions you may have.

Monday November 23rd
To accomodate voters, the Clerk's Department will be open 4:30pm - 8pm. Please come in to vote, add yourself to the voter's list, or ask any questions you may have.

Election Day

Monday November 23rd

 
Electors can be added to the Voter's List until 8pm on November 23rd. After this time, no more votes may be submitted and the votes will be tallied. Official Results will be made available on the following day, November 24th.
