The Region of Durham is considering applications for exemption under the Retail Business Holidays Act. The first application is submitted by the Township of Uxbridge on behalf of all retail businesses that are less than 223 sq. m. and have less than four employees. The second application is submitted by the Uxbridge Zehrs Grocery Store if approved, the exemptions would allow the stores to open on statutory holidays, other than New Years Day, Christmas Day, Easter Sunday and Good Friday, which will remain common pause days.
