The Township of Uxbridge Integrity Commissioner is an independent and impartial position that reports directly to Council. They are responsible for providing elected officials with advice, general information and guidance around:

Complaint procedure

If behaviour or activity by a member of council that you believe contravenes the Code of Conduct, you can submit a complaint. Review our Complaint Procedure for full details about how to file a formal or information complaint.

Informal complaints

You may wish to address this action or behaviour in an informal manner. For example, you can reach out directly to the council member and:

  • Advise them that their behaviour or activity contravened the Code of Conduct
  • Encourage them to stop the prohibited behaviour or activity

We recommend that you keep a written record of the incident(s) including:

  • Dates
  • Times
  • Locations
  • List of individuals present
  • Other relevant information

If you choose to file a formal complaint later, you will have a clearly documented incident. We encourage you to make an information complaint as a way to resolve the matter. However, an informal complaint is not required in order to file a formal complaint.

Formal complaints

If you cannot find a resolution through an informal complaint, you can file a formal complaint with the Integrity Commissioner. Complete the Complaint Form and submit it to the Township Clerk.

All formal complaints should include the following information:

  • Your name, email address and phone number
  • Name of the municipality
  • Detailed description of the behaviour or action and why it contravened the Code of Conduct
  • Any and all evidence to support the allegation
  • Your signature
