As many residents are aware, last month,  Durham Regional Chair Roger Anderson passed away after a long battle with cancer. His dedication and leadership will be greatly missed...

This letter is to inform Uxbridge Residents that I have been elected by my peers at Regional Council to fill the vacant Chair. I will take over this position effective immediately and remain in this position until December, when a newly elected Chair will take office.

As a result, I will unfortunately not be able to continue as the Mayor for the Township of Uxbridge. Until a replacement Mayor is approved by Uxbridge Township Council, all Township business will continue as normal with Deputy Mayor Pat Molloy at the helm. The Township will share information about how my position and the position of my replacement (if required) will be filled.

Please know I did not make this decision lightly. Having already decided I would not be seeking another term in office I knew I would be stepping back from my duties at the end of the year. Still, I did not expect to end my term so suddenly. I thought long and hard over what was best for Uxbridge, for the Region, and for my family before I accepted this position.

I leave the Township with so many wonderful memories and strong friendships. I depart knowing the Township is in excellent hands with an effective Council and top-notch staff. It has been my honour and privilege to serve the residents of Uxbridge Township for 34 years.
