To commemorate the 150th Anniversary of Canada, almost 1000 Uxbridge residents...

took the Active150 fitness challenge to earn a commemorative medal at the Canada Day Celebrations. This program was so popular the Township of Uxbridge Recreation Department is offering it again for 2018! Whether you like to walk, run, cycle, or swim there is an Active150 Legacy Challenge for you.

Rebranded the Active 150 Legacy Challenge, the intent of the 2018 program is to encourage residents to make a commitment to a physical activity for one hour 50 times (or more) in a 5 month period. The challenge must be completed between March 1st and July 1st and those who complete a challenge will be recognized at the Canada Day Celebration in Elgin Park on Sunday, July 1st.

There are different challenges suggested such as walking 150 kms or swimming 50kms. Residents are encouraged to speak to the Recreation Department if they have an idea to customize a Challenge to suit a particular interest. Resident’s self-track their progress and report when they are finished. Anyone signed up prior to June1st will be eligible for prizes along the way.

This year’s program is sponsored by the Healthy Kids Community Challenge. The first 500 youth who sign up will receive a free pedometer silicone watch! The program is open for residents of all ages.

Individuals can sign on for a challenge by registering on the Township’s Activenet system (available at the ActiveNet Site), and tracking their progress against their goal. Paper tracking sheets or on-line tracking apps are both acceptable means of demonstrating that you have achieved your goal.
