Registration for the popular Active 150 Challenge closed at the start of May...

and the Township is thrilled that over 850 residents have signed up and are working towards, or have already completed, the Active 150 Challenge.

In addition to the official Township challenge, local schools have implemented a school version of the Active 150 Challenge. In total, this means more than 1000 residents are working to commemorate the 150th birthday of Canada by achieving a personal fitness goal.

Rebecca Harman, Recreation Coordinator with the Township of Uxbridge has met lots of the Active150 participants and has heard many inspirational stories.  “We are thrilled so many residents are taking the challenge. It is great to hear all the success stories. We are also impressed at how the schools have embraced their version of the challenge – it’s amazing.”

While registration is closed to new participants, existing participants are encouraged to keep working towards completing their challenge by self-tracking the progress towards their goals. Participants who registered through the Recreation Department and who complete their challenge prior to June 30th will receive a Canada 150th medal at the Canada Day Celebration in Elgin Park on Saturday July 1st.

The project is sponsored by the Township of Uxbridge and is partially funded by an Ontario150 grant. The provincial government is supporting initiatives across the province for the 150th anniversary.
