• Notice of Intention to Repeal a Designation By-law and Pass a By-law to Designate - Uxbridge/Scott Historical Centre Lands

Take Notice that the Council of The Corporation of the Township of Uxbridge intends to pass by-laws...

under Section 29 of the Ontario Heritage Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter 0.18, to designate the following lands to be of cultural heritage value and interest:

Uxbridge/Scott Historical Centre (7239 Concession Rd 6)(Concession 6 N Pt Lot 31 S Pt Lot 32 and now 40R-10522 Part 1 to 3)(Plan 40M-1694 Blk 63 and Pt Blk 64 RP40R-18662, Parts 3 and 5)

The Uxbridge/Scott Historical Centre Museum property was created in 1972 to commemorate the heritage of Uxbridge. It is comprised of nine (9) buildings built in the early 20th century. Seven are authentic heritage structures while two are reconstructions. The site reflects a range of historic themes important to the Township’s past, and culturally significant persons associated with the Township.

There is currently a By-law that designates the Fifth Line Church and the Orange Lodge Hall as having historical significance on the Historical Centre site that will be repealed and replaced with a new by-law that will include a number of other buildings now located on the site. In addition to the Fifth Line Church and the Orange Hall (now known as Victoria Corners Lodge Hall), the designation of Quaker Hill Public School, The Gould-Carmody House, Scott Township Municipal Hall, the Hillson Shed, the Nesbitt Shed, and the Implement Shed would complete the process of designating the Uxbridge/Scott Historical site save and except, the lands that contain the Off Leash Dog Park, The Stokes-Kydd House and Fire Hall which will not be designated.

Additional information, including a full description of the reasons for designation is available upon request from Debbie Leroux, Director of Legislative Services/Clerk at 905-852-9181 or at [email protected] during regular business hours.

Any notice of objection, setting out the reason for objection and all relevant facts, must be served upon the Director of Legislative Services/Clerk within 30 days of the first publication of this notice.

Dated at the Township of Uxbridge, this 10th day of May, 2018
