Private landowners play an important role in protecting and enhancing the health of our local environment. Being a steward of your land presents benefits and opportunities for you and those around you, including:

  • Improved water quality in the streams and ponds on your property and in your community
  • A healthier place to live for you and your family
  • An increased variety of wildlife and habitat
  • Reduced yard maintenance and increased property value
  • A sense of well-being about your contribution to the health of the natural environment

There are many organizations offering assistance, both technical and financial, to landowners interested in undertaking conservation projects on their lands.  The following is a list of links and events in the Uxbridge area.

Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA)

At TRCA, we recognize that a healthy watershed is the result of the efforts of all the landowners within it. Through its private land stewardship programs, TRCA works with interested landowners to help them meet their environmental stewardship goals and objectives. Our programs cover a wide range of interests including tree planting and forest management, protecting streams and wetlands, creating wildlife habitat and implementing farm beneficial management practices.
