Durham Region has moved from the customer self-assessment (TeleRead) water meter card program to full water meter readings by Meter Readers. This eliminates the need for customers to provide readings and reduced the number of estimated bills. The decrease in estimated bills will help identify plumbing issues sooner, reducing high bills—ultimately saving customers money, improving customer service and preventing water loss. Weight restriction season on Regional roads ends April 2

The Regional Municipality of Durham and local area municipalities restrict the operation of motor vehicles on designated roads during the spring weight restriction season, as per the Highway Traffic Act and Regional By-law 26-2018. This affects vehicles that are heavier than 5,000 kilograms or five tonnes per axle. The final day of the Regional Municipality of Durham 2024 Weight Restriction season will be April 1, 2024.

New Pickle Ball and Tennis Courts Coming to Fields of Uxbridge

Council has approved construction work to take place for the installation of four pickleball and four tennis courts at the Fields of Uxbridge. These improvements emerge in response to public feedback requesting the implementation of new permanent courts. The Township received positive feedback and participation from the temporary indoor pickleball courts established in the Arena last summer, and the Township anticipates significant utilization of the new outdoor courts.

The Ontario government and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are reminding the public to exercise caution as black bears begin to come out of hibernation. With this winter’s mild weather and lack of snow, there have been reports of black bears coming out of hibernation early in some parts of the province.
