Civil Marriage Ceremonies

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

The Township of Uxbridge offers civil marriage ceremonies for couples planning to have a non-religious ceremony.  Ceremonies can be performed between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Couples must attend a pre-ceremony consultation to go over all necessary arrangements before their special day.  Each couple will be asked to fill out a Civil Marriage Booking Agreement and a Civil Ceremony Pre-meeting Check List.

Ceremony Details

Couples will be able to choose from one of five ceremony scripts.  You can also enhance the ceremony by adding your own personalized vows or other custom elements.  All additions to the ceremony must be approved by the Marriage Officiant at the mandatory pre-ceremony consultation meeting.

Two witnesses are required, both of whom should be over fourteen years of age (16 years old preferred).  The witnesses must be able to understand the ceremony and what is taking place in order to give evidence at a later date, if required.  If you are unable to provide your own witnesses the Township of Uxbridge can provide witnesses for a nominal fee (subject to availability).  Please arrange this service at the time of your consultation.
