• Invasive Species Eradication Continues in the Uxbridge Countryside Preserve

The Township continues invasive-species eradication work at the Uxbridge Countryside Preserve...

Licensed contractors will be on-site on Wednesday, Aug. 8th, and Thursday Aug. 9th, spraying herbicide in a targeted application to areas where buckthorn and dog strangling vine were removed last fall. This application of herbicide is to remove remaining traces of invasive species in areas where eradication efforts took place last year. The problem areas are being monitored and will be assessed next year to determine if additional spraying is required.

Notices and details regarding the spraying will be posted at the entrance-way to the Uxbridge Countryside Preserve.   No spraying will be done near any trails. Preserve visitors are asked to remain on marked trails and refrain from entering the areas where the spraying has occurred for a period of 24 hours. Dogs who are leashed and on the trails in the Preserve are not at risk from this program as they will not be exposed to the herbicide.

Please remember that as per Animal By-law 2009-081, the Uxbridge Countryside Preserve is not a leash-free dog park. Please keep your dog on a leash at all times and clean up after you pet.
