The new washroom/storage facilities at the Fields of Uxbridge are now open...

The stand-alone structure is approximately 2,500 square feet. The facility includes 16 washrooms, a small meeting room, a concession stand, a covered pavilion and storage for the soccer club. Sanitary sewer, water and hydro services were placed at the Fields of Uxbridge as part of the project.

These services will also enable future development of the site as a Recreation hub for the Township as set out in the Fields of Uxbridge Master Plan.

“These washrooms, storage facility and concession booth are a welcome improvement to the site. The hundreds of residents who are here each week for soccer or other recreational pursuits love these new washrooms and the new pavilion”, says Mayor Pat Molloy. “We were thrilled to work with the soccer club. They made a generous donation of $50,000 towards the facility, and we were able to provide secure storage for them and a more functional space to use. “

The project would not have been possible without $366,000 in federal funding through the Canada150 Community Infrastructure Program delivered by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario). M.P. Jennifer O’Connell was on hand to cut the ribbon at the new facility.

“I was proud to attend the unveiling and ribbon cutting ceremony for new accessible washrooms at the Fields of Uxbridge.  This project was made possible by funding of $366,600 under the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program. I know how important accessibility issues are in our community, and through projects such as this, we can ensure everyone in our town can visit the recreational spaces we all enjoy.”

The total cost for the project was $1.1 million dollars. The Township‘s portion of the funding came from monies reserved from development charges and parkland funds.
